Located on the western shore of the
Chesapeake Bay on the southeastern peninsula of Virginia – an area known as the
Northern Neck is the beautiful county known as Lancaster County.[1] The county was formed in 1652 from
Northumberland and York counties. [2]
At first glance historical significance may not be seen, but if one digs deeper
historical significance can be pointed out.
Lancaster County is the home of many different kinds of historical
figures. John Carter and Robert Carter,
father and son, positively impacted Lancaster County by being honorable
politicians and brilliant constructors of the historic Christ Church. This website will allow for an inside look at
these two Carter men along with their big project, the Christ Church.
